Who am I?

After my first post yesterday and couple views I realized I never said who I was. So I'm going to give myself a proper introduction!

Who am I?
My name is Alec. I am a student at University of Washington, and currently I still don't know what I want to study. I love video games and have been playing them for 10 years. I was never supposed to be able to play video games based on vows that my parents made at their wedding, but one day I found a Game Boy Color with Pokemon Yellow in it. We searched and made posters to see if we could find the owner but we couldn't, so I kept it. I bought Pokemon Crystal afterwards and just continued from there.

What do I do?
I am mainly a student as I mentioned before, but on weekends I lifeguard down at the local pool. I have also taken up a blog to do in free time where I will post stuff about video games, movies, technology and anything else that I see to be relevant.

What will I do in the future with this blog?
I hope to make this blog into a website containing news, reviews and more about video games, movies and technology. I hope that at one point I will be able to move towards a YouTube channel to and continue on there playing games, vlogging perhaps and interacting with readers and viewers.

What is my favorite video game?
I have a couple favorites in mind. I like the Pokemon games a ton. I really enjoyed the Johto remakes, and am currently playing the crap out of Omega Ruby. I am planning to finish the National Dex for the first time which is loads of fun. Other than Pokemon I like to play Battlefield 3, Grand Theft Auto V, and Super Smash. Maybe one day readers and I can have some Smash matches or Pokemon battles!

Anything we should know?
I am not the best writer, but I will try my best to get my ideas out as best as I can. This is a learning experience and I believe in a year, this blog will have much better content with lots of fun thrown in. Also, I have ADD, so I may bounce around sometimes when writing, but when I'm on my medication, I am focused and to the point.

Well that's all I can think of that you should know about me! If you have any questions for me go ahead and leave down below! Also, I'm sorry for the blandness of my blog currently. I am still figuring everything out and plan to have a proper looking blog up and running soon.

2015: The Year of Video Games

2015 is going to be a crazy year in video games. Let's run down the list of this years biggest video game titles and why they may go down in gaming history.
  • The Witcher 3: Developed by CD Projekt, this game has already won the award for Most Anticipated from The Game Awards 2014. Over 30 times larger than previous Witcher games, and 20% larger than Award Winning The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, the developers are estimating 100 hours just to complete the main story line. Not to mention a large amount of side quests and other missions will be in the game. The 35 minute long demo really shows off the beauty of this game. About 5 minutes in you hear him say "there are no invisible walls", this region is completely open to adventure for those of you who love to explore and see the full potential of these new current gen consoles and PC. Releasing May 19th, 2015, this will be a game to watch out for.
  • Grand Theft Auto V: Having already been released on all current and previous generation consoles and grossing $1 billion within 3 days of it's initial release you may wonder why this even made this list. The PC version, that's why. After the so-so PC port of GTA: IV a few years back, pcmasterracers are in for a treat, the division of Rockstar that brought the excellent port of Max Payne will be developing the PC port. Smiles can only get bigger and wallets can only get emptier if mod support is allowed bringing the same silliness that gave GTA:IV life. Don't forget about Heists finally arriving this year too, a few years late, but they look amazing from the trailer released a few weeks ago. GTA Online is about to get a lot more populated.
  • Batman: Arkham Knight: The next big Batman game. Does anything else need to be said? After the success of Arkham Asylum, City and Origins, Rocksteady Games is taking the reins again and making another beautiful game with amazing visuals. The dark and gloomy Gotham City returns, taking place after the events of Arkham City, with criminals once again trying to end the Dark Knight. With old gadgets and the slick combat returning, what could make it better? How about the batmobile? Yea that's right. What could be better than cruising around in the batmobile after kicking some ass? Nothing. The trailer gave me goosebumps. June 2nd can't come soon enough.
  • Just Cause 3: Only a rumor at this time, but if this comes true, I would be the happiest gamer on Earth. Just Cause 2 was amazing. The destructiveness of the game was unreal. The size of the map was off the charts! There were so many things to do which would make my list of top 10 favorite games of all time. I only wish there was multiplayer support, and not from a mod. But still, the multiplayer mod made the game a thousand times better. If Just Cause 3 came with more destruction, multiplayer and/or co-op, I think we have a game of the year consideration here.
  • The Division: Ubisoft's next big game title, this third-person shooter in a dystopian open world United States. After a virus spreads through the nation, it collapses and a special force called the Division is made to save whatever they can. A massively online co-op game this game has potential, but it also may question some gamers due to the recent Assassin's Creed game with poor optimization. Far Cry 4 however partially made up for their mistakes. We can only hope that these delays that are occurring can only be for the best. If Ubisoft succeeds this game will be a force to reckon with.
  • Untitled Call of Duty: It's Treyarch's turn next, and with Sledgehammer's Advanced Warfare, Treyarch got a whole extra year to create their game. I myself don't take a liking to Call of Duty since Black Ops 1, more a Battlefield person, but Advanced Warfare was something new and fresh. If Treyarch can keep up the creativity and fun of another Call of Duty the series could have a chance for revival.
  • SUPERHOT: My Indie game choice of the year, SUPERHOT is a game where time only continues when you move. A very simple but elegant looking game, A puzzler at times but always fun. You can play a prototype of the game here! Plenty of levels to get the hang of the game. Slow motion is always fun to play around with.
So these are some of the games that I'm really looking forward to this year. What games did I miss and what are your big games of 2015?
